First - The Sims Resourse is known for having corrupt files so be sure you check ALL your downloads.
As far as the zip files - click to download. Then click save - it will open a menu. Choose your 'Downloads' folder. That is where it will save the zip file.
Once it saves the file it will pop up and say the download is complete. At that point, you'll click to Extract the file. This will open another menu which you'll need to click through until you can choose the destination as Documents/ Electronic Arts/ Sims 3/ Mods/ Packages. That is where you want to extract them to. Once extracted you're done except to run the Dashboard to make sure they are safe.
However, if the zip file opens up and there is a Sims3 package inside - than all you have to do is double click the Sims3 file and it goes to your launcher and loads automatically.

If you don't have a mods folder then you need to make one. That is where all the CC that does NOT come as Sim3 files goes to as well as where to place your mods.

    Hey!
Firstly, take note that the sims resource is safer than the exchange. Upload items only from trusted creators that know what they are using!
Well, i would not bother trying any file method, they are difficult unless you know what your doing. Get Winzip if you would like to download sets, and follow the simple instructions that you can find by googling it up.
If in doubt, simply download separate items. Scrolling down a little you will be able to see the separate creations, download them one by one if you prefer!
Use firefox and you can download separate items on to your launcher immediately.

    Hey!

Safer being a relative word of course.
I went to TSR and downloaded some CLOTHES..a couple of dresses for my sim gals and a suit for my sim guys. Maybe 4 or 5 items total.
I had NO problems before installing these items, after..I had the nude bottom, some burnt legs, and the 'ninja shoes'!!! All these attached to some simple clothing not even related to that bad junk. You might expect that bad cc packaged in a sim file, but a dress???
Also..there is a bad file called the dancing cupcake shirt. It is known to be bad for a LONG time now. Yup, you guessed it, it was available for download at TSR. :?

And yes, I did run the sims3pack files through Custard and nothing untoward was indicated. So they got through that as well.
Now I always keep saved files on hand to replace any of these bad cc infected files.

Issue

It all depends on the extension the files has. If it's a.zip,.rar or.7z file, you need to unzip it. Windows can only unzip zip files. For rar and 7z you'll need an extra program like winRar or 7zip. If they are.package files, they go in your mods folder without unzipping. Unless the page says not to, you use winrar or 7-zip as popular choices to extract the files inside. Packages to into the mod folder. Some mods require the zip files stay zipped to function otherwise they won't work, to figure this out read the description for the mod on instructions. Nov 21, 2019. I've added mods/custom content to my game but it doesn't show up. Elder scrolls tang mo.

Cause

There are several causes why the custom content doesn't show up.

  • Mods/CC and/or script mods aren't turned on in your options
  • The game is using a different folder than the one you've added your mods to
  • It's showing up but in a different place
  • The mod/cc you've added is no longer compatible with the game.

Solution

Proton basic serial interrupt protocol. Sometimes it's all of the custom content, sometimes it's only part of it.

I've compiled a list of things you can try below. Michael jackson smooth criminal images.

None of my custom content/mods is showing up

  • Make sure you have mods/cc turned on in your game options. If you are using script mods, make sure that is also turned on. Be aware that each major patch turns the custom content/mods off. This is not for fun but to protect your game from incompatible mods. All mods/cc can potentially lead to issues if the game code is updated and hence they are turned off. Please make sure your mods/cc are all compatible with a patch before turning the option back on.
  • Especially after an update, the game can be triggered to to use oneDrive or iCloud instead of your local user folder, leading to all mods/cc being missing. In this case, usually your save games are also missing. Check out this post on how to find out which user folder the game is using: How to find your user folder. Do make sure that the path of the folder you've added the mods to exactly matches. It's also very easy to accidentally move a folder on Windows in which case, you could be looking at a folder within a folder. A good test for this is also that if you remove the mods folder completely, the game should automatically create a new one if you start the game. If it doesn't, a different folder is used.
  • Most files you download are either .zip, .rar or .7z files. You need to unpack them first and put the actual package/ts4script files into the mods folder. Tools like 7zip or WinRar are needed for most archive files.

Only some of my mods/cc show up

Sims 4 Cc File Download

  • Check the mod list ingame to see if there are any of the mods/cc missing. The ones that are not listed there will most probably not be showing up ingame. There are several reasons why they are not showing and most likely should be removed. There are two sections. One for Custom Content and Tuning mods (Custom Content) and one for Script Mods. Some parts of Script mods also appear under custom content which is correct and nothing to worry about. The package file of the mod show up under custom content, the ts4script as script mods.
  • ScriptMods appear also appear in the list, if you have them still in ZIP format (not unpacked). The problem ist that they don't work in this state. I'm guessing they're still being displayed as installed as ScriptMods used to be in Zip-File format at the beginning of Sims 4. Make sure you always unpack zip archives.
  • Make sure that none of the custom content you downloaded is for Sims 2 or Sims 3. Once downloaded, they are hard to tell apart as they are all package files. You can use tools such as the Mod conflict detector to detect them.
  • Some mods/cc can conflict with each other. You can use tools such as the Mod conflict detector to detect them (be aware that this tool can only detect conflicts between mods/cc and not between the game and mods/cc).
  • Make sure they are still compatible with the game. The Internet is a great source for that. Also check with the creator or read comments on the page where you got the mod from.
  • Batch fix your custom content with Sims 4 Studio. This only works for custom content and not mods. This doesn't always help so you might just need to remove the custom content that's not showing up.
  • Recolors need the original mesh. If you download something that you don't have (cause the original is another custom content or part of a pack you don't own), they will not show up although you can probably see them on the list.
  • Make sure to read the description of the download as to where it could be. Sometimes a something is a tattoo that you expect to be makeup or otherwise weirdly categorized.
  • I advise against downloading entire mod folder from the net. You don't know what you're downloading and how outdated the things are. This can lead to issues. Always find the original creators and download from them (it's also a curtsy to the original creator)
  • Downloaded Sims and houses belong in the tray and not the mods folder. The file you download may not include the custom content it has used so make sure to read instructions.
  • Script Mods can't be in sub-folders or they will not show up. They usually consist of several files. Create one folder and put all files to that mod into that folder. That folder has to be within the mods folder and not in sub-folders.
  • The Resource.cfg that gets generated by the game allows for up to 5 nested sub-folders. Don't go deeper than that or the mods won't show up.
  • If you have issues with some cc/mods not showing up, try them in groups and don't add too many in one go.
